Mission Guidelines – Seventh-day Adventist Church, TUK

Introduction

The Seventh-day Adventist Church, Technical University of Kenya, invites you to this year’s mission. We pray you will have a blessed and uplifting experience as you commune with God throughout the mission.

The following guidelines outline expected conduct to ensure peaceful coexistence, proper order, and positive community relations.

Dormitory Life

Attendees participate in daily duties to maintain cleanliness. Groups rotate duties promoting unity, responsibility, and cooperation. Skiving duty is discouraged.

Sleep and wake-up times must be observed. Ensure sufficient rest and do not disturb others during sleeping hours.

Program

Follow the mission program strictly. Wake-up time, meals, worship, and all activities must start and end as scheduled. Report unavoidable issues in advance.

Language and Conduct

Avoid actions that promote divisions. Refrain from foul language, idle talk, backbiting, and un-Christlike conversations. Speech should reflect Christian character.

Dress Code

Dress decently, modestly, simply, and healthfully.

For Ladies

  • Avoid pants and short dresses; cover knees even when seated.
  • Clothing should not be too tight or overly long.
  • For exercise: track suits or sweatpants with sports skirts.
  • Hairstyles should be simple and decent.

For Men

  • Avoid tight clothing and shorts during joint sessions.
  • Do not display inner garments such as vests or boxers.

Food

Proper meals provided. Do not bring caffeinated beverages.

Strictly prohibited:

  • Illicit drugs
  • Tobacco
  • Alcoholic beverages
  • Flesh foods

Meals only at scheduled times. Buying food outside discouraged.

Interpersonal Relationships

Practice self-control and temperance. Avoid anger, sharp words, and condemning speech. Act with brotherly love, kindness, and respect.

Undue attention between individuals is discouraged. Disputes should go to the discipline department.

Conflict Resolution

Serious misunderstandings should be reported to the designated discipline officer. Exercise patience, forgiveness, and love.

Order of Management

Officials oversee departments for smooth event running. All attendees must follow instructions for everyone’s wellbeing.

Personal Life

  • Bathe daily and wear clean clothes.
  • Spend free time in prayer, meditation, and Bible study.
  • Avoid idle conversations.
