CAMP MEETING CODE OF CONDUCT

Introduction

Seventh Day Adventist Church, Technical University of Kenya, invites you to join this  year’s camp meeting. It is our prayer and hope that you have  good time as you commune in the camp.
The following facets prescribes, proscribes  and directs the conduct within which the attendee is expected to abide by to ensure  adaptable coexistence and wellbeing of everyone. This is, of necessity, coupled with  ensuring acceptance and good relation with the local community. 

Dormitory Life

Camp meeting attendees will participate in various daily duties and jobs to keep the  dorm and facilities clean. Attendees will be divided into groups and put into a rotation. These duties foster a sense of unity and responsibility. Skiving from duty is discouraged. The sleeping and waking up time is to strictly adhered to. To every possible degree,  the attendees are required to spare enough time for sleep to avoid fatigue and sluggishness in day time activities that can otherwise be incurred. It is required of every  attendee not to interfere with others during their sleep time. 

Program

The camp meeting program is to be strictly adhered to. The wake up time, sleep time, serving time and the edges of every program is to be guarded jealously. Every attendee  is to follow the program pattern unless prior abnormal conditions are reported in time. 

Language

As much as possible, the attendees are to remove from their association anything that  divide them in. tribal lines. Use of foul or harsh language and engagement in idle talk,  backbiting or un-Christ like conversations is highly discouraged

Dress Code

The dress code of attendees is to be adapted to the Seventh Adventist Church standards  of decency, modesty, simplicity, high moral value and healthful. 

Ladies are to avoid pants, short dresses, i.e. let the dresses reach below the knees  when seated. Clothes are to cover up the body duly but not tightly, fully but not to  sweep the street. During exercise, ladies will put on truck suits or sweat pants with  sport skirts on. The hair must be simple and decent. 

Men are to avoid tight clothes, shorts during joint sessions and putting on inner wears  like boxers, and vests openly. 

Food

Proper food will be supplied for meals. Bring no caffeinated beverages on site (e.g., Coffee, certain types of tea, energy drinks, etc.). Under no circumstances, will any  illicit drugs, Tobacco, alcoholic beverages, flesh foods be tolerated on site. Meals will  only be taken at the stipulated times. Avoid buying food outside the camp. 

Inter-Personal Relationship 

The attendees are to exercise self-control and temperance in their associations. Undue  anger is to be avoided as much as possible. Brotherly love and kindness is to be exercised in all association, use of sharp and condemning words is to be avoided. Kind regard of fellows is the center of Christian coexistence. Undue attention is to be totally  avoided to prevent misunderstanding, skiving and slothfulness in duties. The department of discipline will solve all misunderstandings. 

Conflict Resolution

The camp meeting will have an official in charge of discipline through whom all  unbearable misunderstandings will be channeled. All are encouraged to live in Christian  forbearance and love. 

Order of management 

The church has camp officials in charge of various departments of management on site.  All attendees are required to obey instructions adapted to meet the wellbeing of everyone in the campsite. The departments include, catering, camp coordinator, timekeeper, gent’s representative, lady’s representative, speakers coordinator,  treasurer, public address personnel and music leader. 

Personal Life

Everyone is expected to maintain a high level of discipline in their personal life. Bathing  is to be done daily, only clean clothes are to be worn. Attendees are to engage in  personal prayer, meditation and study of the bible at their free time. Avoid idle  conversations. 

Attendees packing list

Personal effects; soap, tooth brush, petroleum jelly, towel, comb, shoe polish etc… 

✔ Bible, Lesson Book, Hymnal, Notebook & Pen 

Warm Clothing. – The Camp meeting period will be a slightly cold period and  attendees will be required to carry with them sufficient and warm clothing. 

Bedding; Blanket/sleeping bad, bed sheets etc… 

✔ Cups/ Water bottles/ Thermos
